General

Can I get MIDI, Finale, or other electronic files?
We do not offer editable electronic files to anyone. This is a common procedure for most publishers. However all scores and parts can be delivered via PDF and will be available until your units season has ended on your own secure website located within cyclopspercussion.com.

What do the scores and parts look like?
All marching band, drum corps, and indoor marching percussion scores are printed vertically (portrait) and formatted for 8 ˝” x 11” paper.

When I purchase a show, what period of time may I perform it?
Shows are to be used for one competitive season. If a group wishes to use music beyond one competitive season, additional permission is required.

What are the advantages of using one of your original works over an arrangement?
The most significant advantage of using a CyClops Percussion original is the regional protection against show duplication that you receive automatically. If you use an arrangement of a famous work, bands/groups close to you also have the opportunity to acquire a license for that same work. Under no circumstances will we send out music until we have the signed permissions documentation. Please plan for the additional time required for the permissions documentation to be processed by the publisher and ultimately be received by CyClops Percussion.

Can I view a sample score of a particular show?
Sample scores are available for viewing by interested parties. These scores show the odd pages only and are sent via pdf format. We will only send up to 3 scores per inquiry. These scores can be viewed with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

When I request a perusal score, does that automatically reserve that show for me?
   No it does not.

Can I distribute the mp3 files to my staff, students and others?
As far as mp3s are concerned, it is perfectly fine to copy, burn and distribute any of our personal compositions and public domain works.

What percussion scoring do you use?
In most cases, there is and complete orchestration for the percussion section based on the numbers and instrument list you provide.

Adjustments & Editing

Can you simplify (water) or reduce the instrumentation of a specific book?
We can simplify (or water) or reduce the instrumentation of the scores. This service is provided for an additional fee and may take a little time depending on the age of the piece. Please contact us with specifics for further details.

Can I get you to alter one of your shows?
Any alterations to a show such as transitions, part reductions, re-titling, or anything else that requires custom work, is possible at an additional charge. Please note that even simple “cuts” require a healthy amount of work especially when you factor in cleaning up the music notation as well as extracting and reformatting the new parts.

May our group “take liberties” (editing and altering) with the music?
Absolutely! This is a normal process with competitive ensembles.

Arrangements

What is the procedure if I wish to purchase an arrangement?
Publishing companies prefer that the band/organization director secures the “permission to arrange” licensing. Most of the publishers have a web site with directions on how to do this. Once we have received the signed documentation from the copyright holder, we can then send you music. Under no circumstances will music be sent until the signed documentation is received. Please plan for the additional time required for the documentation to be processed by the publisher and ultimately be received by CP. Bands/Organizations are responsible for the “permission to arrange” licensing fees.
